experiences from immigrating

Hi everyone,

I am Vuong Vu, a student from Vietnam. I immigrated to the U.S 2 years ago with my family. I was sure that each of us has already had different cultural shocks when we moved to the U.S at the first time. For me, the cultural shock seemed to come to me at the time when I got off the airplane. Most of Americans use a lot of body languages to show what they do not want to say by opening their mouths or it is just like a habit. For example, when I got off the airplane, I was totally lost in the airport because it was too big. I stood among people and looked and anyone who could help us to get out of this case. I chose on guy to ask for the way to pick up my luggage. However, I was so disappointed from the beginning of the conversation of this guy to the end. He used most of body languages, the things that I did not know from my country. He raised both of his shoulders in the way to show something that he was not sure. Furthermore, he used his fingers to show something that he agreed with or he disagreed with.

After two weeks when I came to the U.S, my parents and enrolled to a public education. After studying for 6 months at there, I decided to applied to MCTC. The educational systems in the U.S  were different from my country's ones. In here, the students not only study their major that they choose but also they take part in to many helpful clubs to make friends with a lot of international people or even contact with their professors to talk more about the related issue of the lesson. During one year studying at MCTC, I expanded knowledge to the world by studying critical thinking courses. Those were helpful and made me change me mind to be more positive.
